About

We started Quote Shifter because the internet made buying insurance worse.

Every comparison site we tried — for car, home, or life — felt like buying tyres from a man in a car park. Pop-ups. 'Only 3 policies left.' Fake countdowns for products you keep for years.

So we built the opposite. A brand that teaches first, sells second, doesn't sell your data, and doesn't hide the fact that we make money when you buy a policy. Here we are.

Manifesto — v1.0

01

We will tell you when NOT to buy.

If you're 24, single, renting and childless — you probably don't need life insurance. We'll say that. Loudly.

02

We will not fake urgency.

There's no 'offer ending in 4 minutes.' Insurance is a 30-year decision. Take a walk. Come back Tuesday.

03

We will show our fees.

We take a one-off referral fee from the insurer when you buy. Never from you. Never recurring. Full number listed on every quote.

04

We will write like humans.

No 'coverage tailored to your unique lifestyle needs.' Just: how much, for how long, what happens if you die, what happens if you don't.

The awkward bit

How we
get paid.

When you take out a policy through Quote Shifter, the insurer pays us a one-off referral fee — typically $45 to $110 depending on the product.

You pay exactly the same monthly premium as if you'd gone direct. State DOI rules require it, and we wouldn't have a business if it wasn't true.

If you don't buy anything, we make $0 — and that's fine. Roughly 34% of our visitors leave without a policy. Some come back a year later. Some don't.

We don't take advertising money from any insurer. Nobody pays us to show up higher in results.
